Standards and conformity issues have been a bother to most Ghanaian farmers in getting their products unto the European market. In view of these challenges, the Crops Division of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture organized a 3-day workshop on the Ghana Green Label Scheme for agricultural extension officers in the Greater Accra Region.
The workshop which was financed by the TRAQUE Programme is to equip the extension officers with knowledge on how to curb these challenges which they will relay to farmers in their various districts. The Green Label Scheme is made up various components like: safe food production, workers safety and health, appropriate post-harvest handling and distribution as well as good and environmentally sustainable agric practices.
The main target of the scheme is helping farmers produce safe fruit and vegetables for the local market.
